"What does pursuing further education mean to you?"

All throughout high school, I have pushed myself to do my best each day by excelling in honors level classes, as well as staying involved in many school activities and committees. More importantly, I manage to maintain a balance between finishing high school and taking care of my body, which has been battling cystic fibrosis since I was born. This disorder has put me through a lot in the past, from fighting infections to struggling to reach a healthy weight, but it never manages to hold me back when I am planning for my future after high school.

After high school, I plan to further my education by earning a degree in marketing. One can only imagine how difficult it will be to leave home and transition into an entirely new lifestyle at college. I'll have to adjust to ensure that I can stay well enough to stay on campus. However, I plan on facing this challenge head on and proving to everyone who has seen me live with CF each day that I can do it. That is what pursing a further education means to me; it is an opportunity to prove to myself and so many others that my disorder does not control who I am or what I can do with my future. Once I get a degree, it will unveil so many opportunities for me, and I will be open to face each new challenge they may bring forth.
