"What does pursuing further education mean to you?"

Pursuing further education is making the choice to see every day as an opportunity to learn; to learn more about your surroundings, about people near and far from you, and to learn about yourself. As I come to the halfway point in my college career, I am finding that pursuing further education is a daily choice. It's the choice to put obtaining new knowledge at the top of your priority list even if that means an hour less of sleep and an extra cup of coffee. It's more than attending a lecture or asking questions in a discussion; it's making each moment a learning experience, taking in your current circumstances and absorbing the information for the future. It's the act of removing the price tag from knowledge, remembering that learning is invaluable. Each morning as I step out onto campus I am surrounded by people who have made this choice along with me, the choice to forget everything else going on at that moment in time in hope of gaining a greater understanding of the creation we are surrounded by. It's a choice, it's an action, and to me, pursuing further education means living with my eyes wide open; my ears eager to listen; each of my senses ready to take in the diversity that surrounds me. It's choosing to learn from all that surrounds me whether it's in the books I read, the lectures I take notes on, or just from the people I meet.
