"What does pursuing further education mean to you?"
To me, being able to obtain a higher education means the possibility to work towards a cure to my own disease. I am currently enrolled in pharmacy school because I have aspirations of one day being able to work in the research field of medication development and one day be the one to cure CF. It has been my goal to bring about new drug technologies and treatment to the CF community ever since I first started to understand the reasons why I take so many medications. The opportunity to work towards my PharmD helps me to even further understand the intricate processes of the body and the many different drug interactions that take place inside the human body. Through advancing my education, I have the ability to work with and understand the body's different responses to different chemical combinations and to understand the importance of drug compliance even more.
A chance to pursue a higher education offers me hope for the future. The optimism that comes with every new day, and the new knowledge that every day brings to life makes obtaining a higher education of the utmost importance to me. Having the ability to work towards a Doctorate of Pharmacy proves to me that anything is possible and that no obstacle, no matter how large should prevent us from pursuing our dream, a dream that for me paves the way to a future where fewer kids must face a disease that has no cure....yet.
